Oyigbo local government area of Rivers State is currently in turmoil as the deadly clash between Hausas and indigenes of Rivers state has led to the death of a member of the royal household.
The day will remain memorable for the people of Iriebe Kingdom in Obigbo/Oyigbo local government area of Rivers state as Prince Orubum was killed during the clash. His lifeless body was dumped near the palace gate as it was discovered that he was stabbed to death.
According to National Helm, the deceased was killed after a serious fight started between the Hausa community and some Akwa Ibom indigenes in Obigbo area. Indigenes watched as properties worth millions were destroyed as a result of the clash after the fight escalated. This comes after the police in Rivers State said it killed two bandits who attacked Hausas in that area.
According to the police, the bandits, numbering six, were said to have invaded a cattle market in the area where Hausa traders were selling cattle.
The policemen, guarding the traders, were said to have repelled the attempted attack on the traders, killing two of the bandits.
